Former Presidents and Vice Presidents Attend MPR Annual Session
The MPR Annual Session and the Joint Session of the DPR-DPD were held on Friday, 14 August 2026. Also in attendance were the President and Vice President from previous periods, such as the 7th President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) and the 10th and 12th Vice President of the Republic of Indonesia, Jusuf Kalla.
Besides Jokowi and JK, the 13th Vice President Ma’ruf Amin, the 11th Vice President Boediono, and the wife of the 4th President Abdurrahman Wahid, or Gus Dur, Sinta Nuriyah, were also present at the Nusantara Building.
Jokowi appeared to be wearing a suit with a dark blue tie and a black peci cap. Meanwhile, JK wore a suit with a red-and-white tie.
Jokowi and JK then entered the plenary meeting room. Jokowi subsequently sat together with JK, Boediono, and Ma’ruf Amin.
Besides the former presidents and vice presidents, the heads of state institutions and ministers of the Red and White Cabinet had also arrived at the parliament complex.
Among them were MPR Speaker Ahmad Muzani along with the deputy speakers of the MPR, such as Eddy Soeparno, Bambang Wuryanto, and Rusdi Kirana. Also visible were Coordinating Minister for Infrastructure and Regional Development Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono, Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture Pratikno, Coordinating Minister for Community Empowerment Muhaimin Iskandar, or Cak Imin, Foreign Minister Sugiono, Trade Minister Budi Santoso, Villages Minister Yandri Susanto, Finance Minister Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa, Minister of Women’s Empowerment and Child Protection Arifah Fauzi, Religious Affairs Minister Nassarudin Umar, Social Affairs Minister Saifullah Yusuf, and State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi.
For information, during this session, President Prabowo Subianto will deliver a speech regarding the 2027 State Budget (APBN).
“Yes, this annual session, the President’s speech in the context of the 2027 APBN is the first,” said Deputy Speaker of the DPR Sufmi Dasco Ahmad to reporters at the Parliament Complex, Senayan, Central Jakarta, Friday, 14 August 2026.
Regarding today’s session, Dasco said preparations had been underway since yesterday. He also expressed hope that the joint session and the annual session would proceed smoothly.
“Hopefully today it can run smoothly,” he explained.
