Former PGN CEO Faces Prosecution Hearing in Gas Trading Corruption Case Today

JAKARTA - The former President Director of PT Perusahaan Gas Negara (PGN) Tbk for the period 2008-2017, Hendi Prio Santoso, is facing the first hearing related to allegations of corruption in a gas sales cooperation agreement, at the Corruption Crimes Court at the Central Jakarta District Court, today, Wednesday (8/4/2026). In addition to Hendi, the trial also involves Arso Sadewo Tjokrosoebroto, the President Commissioner of PT Inti Alasindo Energy (IAE), who will be tried in the first hearing with the agenda of reading the indictment. “The PGN case, with the defendant Hendi Prio Santoso et al., agenda reading of the indictment,” said the Spokesperson for the Central Jakarta District Court, Andi Saputra, on Wednesday, quoted from Antara. The alleged corruption case in gas trading originated from the approval of PT PGN’s 2017 Corporate Work Plan and Budget (RKAP) on 19 December 2016. In that RKAP, there was no plan for PT PGN to purchase gas from PT IAE. However, on 2 November 2017, a cooperation document was signed between the two companies after several stages. On 9 November 2017, PT PGN paid an advance of 15 million US dollars. Both have been sentenced to six years in prison and a fine of Rp250 million subsidiary six months in prison, on 12 January 2026.
