The Chairman of the Central Board of Muhammadiyah, Prof Haedar Nashir, has expressed profound condolences on the passing of Prof Maman Abdurrahman, the Chairman of the Central Board of Persatuan Islam (Persis) for the 2010-2015 period, on Sunday (21/6/2026). According to Haedar, the passing of the deceased is a great loss for the Islamic propagation and reform movement in Indonesia.

“On behalf of the Central Board of Muhammadiyah, we extend our deepest condolences. May the deceased attain husnul khatimah, be forgiven for all his shortcomings, have his deeds of worship accepted, and may the bereaved family be granted fortitude,” said Haedar, as quoted from his personal Instagram account @haedarnashirofficial on Sunday (21/6/2026).

Prof Maman Abdurrahman was also known as the father of the General Treasurer of the Central Board of Muhammadiyah, Hilman Latief. Haedar advised Hilman Latief and the extended family of the deceased to continue preserving and carrying forward the spirit of struggle bequeathed by Prof Maman in advancing Islam and the nation.

According to Haedar, the death of Prof Maman leaves sorrow not only for the extended Persis family but also for all elements of the Islamic movement in Indonesia. The values of struggle and dedication instilled by the deceased, he said, must continue to be nurtured and passed on by the next generation.

“The passing of Prof Maman is a great loss for the Islamic propagation and reform movement in Indonesia,” he stated.

On a personal level, Haedar remembered Prof Maman as a figure who was flexible in communication and capable of building relationships with various circles. This open attitude made the deceased a respected figure, including in his relations with Muhammadiyah.

“He was an open figure and had the ability to establish communication with various parties. Because of that, he was respected by many circles,” said Haedar.

Haedar hoped that the bereaved family would be given strength and fortitude in facing this calamity, while all the deeds of worship of Prof Maman Abdurrahman are accepted by Allah SWT.
