Former Pati Regent Sudewo Charged with Accepting Rp3.8 Billion in Bribes in DJKA Project Corruption Case
Former member of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI) for the 2019-2024 period and ex-regent of Pati, Sudewo, has been charged with accepting bribes totalling Rp3.8 billion in a corruption case involving projects at the Directorate General of Railways (DJKA) of the Ministry of Transportation (Kemenhub) for the 2018-2022 fiscal year. The charge was revealed by the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) public prosecutor during Sudewo’s inaugural hearing at the Semarang Corruption Court in Central Java on Monday (15/6/2026).
The prosecutor disclosed that between 2021 and 2022, Sudewo, while serving as a member of House Commission V, received a sum of Rp1.37 billion at his residence in Surabaya. The money was provided by Nur Widayat, Commissioner of PT Mataram Inti Konstruksi, who gave Rp450 million; Feri Septha Indrianto, also known as Feri Gareng, Director of PT Indria Putra Persada, who gave Rp200 million; and Dion Renato Sugiarto, Director of PT Istana Putra Agung, who gave Rp721.5 million.
The prosecutor added that all the individuals who gave money to Sudewo were businessmen or construction service contractors working within the DJKA of the Ministry of Transportation. According to the prosecutor, Sudewo, along with several DJKA officials, orchestrated the procurement process for goods and services in a number of projects to ensure they were won by specific companies.
These projects included the construction of the Solo-Semarang double track phase 1 (JGSS 1), the construction of the southern cross double track between Mojokerto along Surabaya-Solo (JGMS 1), and the procurement of the double track between Solo Balapan-Kadipiro-Kalioso (JGSS 6).
The JGMS 1 work package was secured by PT Mataram Inti Konstruksi through a joint operation (KSO) named Putra Kencana Mataram KSO, with a contract value reaching Rp70.91 billion. However, in this project, Nur Widayat did not execute his 10 percent share of the work. Instead, Nur received a fee of Rp450 million. The prosecutor stated that Nur Hidayat then converted the Rp400 million fee he received into US dollars and subsequently handed the money to the defendant Sudewo at the defendant’s residence.
