Former Pati Regent Sudewo Allegedly Received Rp846 Million Fee from Railway Project Contractors
Former Pati Regent and member of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR) for the 2019-2024 period, Sudewo, allegedly received a fee of Rp846 million from two contractors working on a railway project. This was revealed by witnesses during a trial at the Semarang Corruption Court, Central Java, on Monday (6/7/2026).
During the hearing, the public prosecutor from the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) presented four witnesses from the contractors working on the Solo-Semarang Double Track (JGSS) Phase 1 project in 2022. The witnesses were Dion Renato Sugiarto, Director of PT Istana Putra Agung (IPA); Suyanto, Head of Finance at PT IPA; Anis, a finance staff member at PT IPA; and Ferry Septha Indrianto, Director of PT Indria Putra Persada.
Suyanto testified that Dion Renato Sugiarto had asked him to prepare funds amounting to 0.5 percent of the project value, which totalled Rp144 billion, equating to Rp721.5 million. He stated that the money was intended to be given to a member of the DPR’s Commission V. However, Suyanto admitted he did not know for certain whether the funds were specifically for Sudewo. “I don’t remember if it was specifically for Mr Sudewo, because Mr Dion only said it was for a member of Commission V,” he said.
Suyanto explained that the money was withdrawn in stages from PT IPA’s cash reserves. After the funds were collected, Dion instructed that the money be handed over to Bernard Hasibuan, the Commitment Making Officer (PPK) for the Central Java Railway Engineering Centre (BTP).
Anis, the finance staff member, confirmed the disbursement of the Rp721.5 million but also stated she did not know for certain that the money was given to Sudewo. “I only found out the money was for Mr Sudewo after the investigation into this case,” she said. The trial continues to examine the flow of funds in the railway infrastructure project.
