Former Ombudsman Member Yeka Hendra Questioned Over Obstruction of Justice in Cooking Oil Case

The Attorney General’s Office (Kejagung) has questioned former Ombudsman member Yeka Hendra Fatika in connection with allegations of obstruction of justice in the cooking oil corruption case.

Yeka appeared before the Special Crimes Prosecutor’s Office investigators at around 10:55 WIB, accompanied by his lawyer Haris Azhar.

Separately, Syarief Sulaeman Nahdi, Director of the Special Crimes Prosecutor’s Office, confirmed the questioning. He stated that Yeka was examined as a witness for the first time in the obstruction of justice case.

“Yes, it’s true (Yeka was questioned today). Correct (this is the first time), it’s the cooking oil case,” he said in a text message on Monday (25 May).

Previously, the Attorney General’s Office seized evidence during searches at the Ombudsman’s office and the residence of Commissioner Yeka Hendra Fatika (YH).

Syarief Sulaeman Nahdi said the search at YH’s residence in Cibubur, East Jakarta, was conducted by investigators.

“If I’m not mistaken, it’s in Cibubur,” he said in a text message on Tuesday (10 March).

Syarief explained that documents and electronic evidence suspected to be related to the case were seized from both locations.

“There are documents and electronic evidence,” he added.

Meanwhile, Anang Supriatna, Head of the Attorney General’s Office’s Legal Information Centre, stated that the searches at the Ombudsman’s office and the commissioner’s residence relate to Article 21 concerning obstruction of investigation and prosecution in the cooking oil case.

In this case, the convicts are Marcella Santoso, Wilmar Group, Permata Hijau Group, and Musim Mas Group.

Anang said the searches also relate to civil lawsuits filed by the three corporate convicts with the State Administrative Court (PTUN). It is known that the Ombudsman is suspected of having recommended the civil lawsuit.

“He’s charged under Article 21 for obstruction of investigation and prosecution in the cooking oil case, the onslag ruling,” Anang said.
