Former NTB Governor Zulkieflimansyah Twice Absent from Lombok Sumbawa Motocross Corruption Probe
The West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) High Prosecutor’s Office has revealed that former NTB Governor Zulkieflimansyah, known as Zul, has twice failed to appear for questioning regarding alleged corruption in the 2023 Lombok Sumbawa Motocross Competition. The prosecutor’s office is now rescheduling the summons. “He will be called again, there will definitely be a new schedule,” said NTB High Prosecutor’s Office Assistant for Special Crimes, Muh Zulkifli Said, on Tuesday (14/7/2026). Zulkifli did not detail the new schedule for Zul’s summons. He only mentioned that the re-summons letter is being processed and is still under discussion. “It is being processed regarding when he will be summoned. We are discussing when to call him again. If we want this to be resolved quickly, we must summon him as soon as possible,” he added. Meanwhile, Head of Public Information at the NTB High Prosecutor’s Office, Muhammad Harun Al Rasyid, stated that many witnesses have been examined in this alleged corruption case. Harun explained that the witness examinations are part of the investigators’ efforts to name suspects. “Yes, from several witnesses, that means there are already (candidates),” Harun said when asked about potential suspects. Previously, investigators from the NTB High Prosecutor’s Office also cancelled the examination of former NTB Tourism Office Head, Jamaluddin Malady, in connection with the alleged corruption in the 2023 Lombok Sumbawa Motocross event. Jamaluddin’s examination was cancelled because he was not accompanied by his legal counsel. However, Jamaluddin has been questioned by investigators several times regarding the case. He was last examined by investigators on Monday (6/7). Besides Jamaluddin, several other former NTB provincial government officials have also been examined, including former NTB Inspectorate Head Ibnu Salim, former Head of the NTB Regional Financial and Asset Management Agency Samsul Rizal, and former NTB Regional Secretary Lalu Gita Ariadi. The Lombok Sumbawa Motocross Competition 2023 was held at the Tohpati Sayang-Sayang Circuit in Mataram City, with a total budget reaching Rp 24 billion. The funds came from the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy during the era of Acting NTB Governor Lalu Gita Ariadi. The event was directly organised by the NTB Tourism Office. However, indications of budget misuse were found. Based on the findings, there were overpayments to service providers and tax underpayments totalling Rp 2.6 billion. The details include payments to partners amounting to Rp 1.2 billion, tax underpayments of Rp 404 million, a payment discrepancy by the Indonesian Motor Association (IMI) of Rp 601 million, and tax underpayments from IMI NTB of Rp 356 million. An excess in official travel budget of Rp 6.2 million was also discovered.
