Former Navy Chief Achmad Sutjipto Passes Away

Former Chief of Staff of the Indonesian Navy (KSAL), Admiral (Ret.) Achmad Sutjipto, passed away on Thursday, 18 June 2026, at Medistra Hospital in South Jakarta. He was 81 years old.

The news of his passing was conveyed by Deputy Chairman of Commission I of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI), Dave Laksono, who offered his condolences.

“May the deceased find the best place beside God Almighty, and may the family be granted strength, fortitude, and sincerity in facing this time of grief,” Dave said.

Dave remembered Sutjipto as one of the nation’s finest sons who dedicated most of his life to serving the country through the Indonesian Navy and various strategic roles he undertook after retirement.

He noted that during his service, the deceased was known as a soldier who upheld high professionalism, integrity, and commitment to the interests of the nation and state.

“The contributions he made are an important part of the journey in building national defence strength, particularly within the Indonesian Navy,” said the leader of the commission overseeing defence affairs in the DPR RI.

According to him, Sutjipto’s passing is a loss for the entire TNI family, Indonesia’s maritime community, and the nation as a whole.

“Nevertheless, the values of service, leadership, and exemplary conduct bequeathed by the deceased will continue to inspire future generations in safeguarding national sovereignty and interests,” he said.

The deceased is lying in repose at his residence on Jalan Gading 10, Block D, Number 45, Kodamar Kelapa Gading, North Jakarta. Sutjipto’s body will subsequently be buried at the Kalibata Heroes Cemetery (TMP).
