During the Indonesian National Police (Polri) Code of Ethics Commission hearing, the former Head of the Narcotics Investigation Unit (Kasat Resnarkoba) of the West Kutai Police, AKP DJS, was found guilty and sanctioned with Dishonourable Discharge (PTDH) from the police force due to proven involvement in the distribution of methamphetamine.

East Kalimantan Regional Police Public Relations Chief, Kombes Pol Yuliyanto, stated on Monday (18/5) that the ethics commission hearing for the former official had concluded with several decisive rulings. The sanctions include the obligation to issue a formal apology before the commission, administrative sanctions involving 26 days of special placement, and the severe penalty of dishonourable discharge from the police service.

Following the hearing, the individual was transported by the Internal Affairs (Paminal) personnel of the National Police Headquarters to Jakarta for further legal processing. The East Kalimantan Regional Police emphasised their commitment to taking firm action against any violations committed by members to maintain institutional integrity and public trust.

The case has been taken over by the Narcotics Crime Directorate of the National Police Criminal Investigation Agency (Bareskrim Polri), as the investigation involves a drug trafficking network led by a dealer from West Kutai known as Ishak. This move aims to uncover a larger network suspected of involving police personnel.

Director of Narcotics Crime at Bareskrim Polri, Brigjen Eko Hadi Santoso, explained that the takeover occurred following new evidence of the former official’s involvement in the syndicate led by Ishak. The investigation into the network began after the Melak Police Station successfully uncovered a narcotics case involving Ishak’s syndicate on 11 February 2026, which subsequently revealed the involvement of the former Narcotics Unit Chief.
