Former Minister of Religion Yaqut Cholil Qoumas Officially Detained by KPK; Net Worth Disclosed at IDR 13.74 Billion
Jakarta — Former Minister of Religion Yaqut Cholil Qoumas has been formally arrested and detained by the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK). The detention follows an investigation into alleged corruption involving hajj quotas.
Qoumas was previously named a suspect in January 2026. The KPK detained him following questioning that concluded at 18:45 WIB on Thursday, 12 March 2026. He arrived at the KPK building at 13:05 WIB and was escorted from the second floor in handcuffs, wearing an orange detention vest.
Upon being escorted away, Qoumas stated: “I have never received a single rupiah from the case of which I am accused. I implemented all these policies solely for the safety of hajj pilgrims.”
According to the State Officials’ Wealth Report (LHKPN) submitted by Yaqut Cholil Qoumas to the KPK as of 20 January 2025, his total net worth stands at IDR 13.74 billion.
The report lists his total assets at IDR 14.55 billion, comprising property, vehicles, other moveable assets, and cash and cash equivalents.
Qoumas’s largest asset category is land and buildings valued at IDR 9.52 billion. He owns six properties distributed across Rembang Regency and East Jakarta.
His transportation assets comprise two vehicles worth a combined IDR 2.21 billion: a 2015 Mazda CX-5 minibus valued at IDR 260 million and a 2024 Toyota Alphard minibus valued at IDR 1.95 billion.
Beyond physical assets, Qoumas reported cash and cash equivalents of IDR 2.59 billion, and other moveable assets totalling IDR 220.75 million.
The report also declares outstanding liabilities of IDR 800 million. After deducting this obligation, his total net worth is recorded at IDR 13.74 billion.
