Former Migrant Worker Arrested in Mataram for Brutally Assaulting Girlfriend in Her Boarding Room

A former Indonesian migrant worker from Kabul Village, Praya Barat Daya District, Central Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara, identified by the initials RU alias Amin, has been arrested by police. The 22-year-old man was detained for brutally assaulting his girlfriend, causing her injuries. The Head of the Women and Children Protection Unit at the Mataram Police, Iptu Eko Ari Prastya, stated that the assault occurred at the victim’s boarding room in the Ampenan District, Mataram. ‘They were dating. They did not live together. The man was visiting the victim’s boarding room,’ Eko said on Saturday (11/7/2026). The assault took place on Thursday morning (9/7/2026). Amin arrived at the boarding house disguised as a woman to gain entry, as the accommodation is exclusively for female tenants. ‘He entered the boarding house wearing women’s clothing. It was visible on the CCTV that he was wearing women’s clothes,’ Eko explained. The attack was motivated by jealousy, with the suspect accusing the victim of having an affair with the landlord. The victim denied the accusation, but the suspect, refusing to believe her, proceeded to assault her. ‘An argument broke out initially, which led to the assault,’ Eko said. Amin first punched the victim in the face with his bare hands. Unsatisfied, he then struck her head with a rice cooker pot, a toilet brush, and slammed her head against the wall. The assault continued with the suspect whipping the victim using an electric fan cable, causing lacerations all over her body. ‘The perpetrator beat the victim mindlessly using his hands and feet, and most severely with the fan cable, which caused cuts on her body,’ Eko stated. Amin has been named a suspect and is being held at the Mataram Police Station. He is charged under Article 466, Paragraph (1) of Law Number 1 of 2023 concerning the Criminal Code. ‘The suspect has been detained. He faces a maximum sentence of two years and six months in prison and a maximum fine of category three, amounting to Rp 50 million,’ Eko clarified.
