REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, LONDON — Claims by United States President Donald Trump that he has won the war against the Islamic Republic of Iran are dismissed as utter nonsense.

Former Head of British Intelligence MI6, Sir Alexander William Younger, stated that to date, the US invasion alongside Zionist Israel against Tehran has not proven any victory for the aggressors.

On the contrary, Younger said, Iran has demonstrated superiority in the warfare that it has long prepared to counter the duo of aggressors, Trump and the war criminal Benjamin Netanyahu.

“Iran is superior,” Younger said during an interview with The Economist, as quoted from Ynetnews, Thursday (26/3/2026). “I must say that is my conclusion (Iran’s superiority),” he added.

Sir Younger served as Head of MI6 from 2014 to 2020 during the administrations of three British prime ministers. His career in intelligence involved deep insights into US military information as well as Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC).

There are many factors that led Younger to conclude that Iran is outmanoeuvring the US in this war. However, among all those superior factors, Younger said the most crucial is the mental attitude and morality in facing this warfare. “The US has taken Iran too lightly,” Younger stated.

Iran, he said, seized a crucial momentum in facing the US-Zionist aggression following the death of Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei at the start of the invasion on 28 February 2026. “I am not saddened by Ali Khamenei’s death. But the fact is, Trump (and the Zionists) took that lightly,” Younger remarked.

According to Younger, Iran had indeed been preparing itself for this warfare since June 2025. However, he said, Iran’s military preparations intensified after the US-Zionists ‘took the life’ of Ali Khamenei.

“What Trump (and Netanyahu) did clarifies that for Iran, this is an existential war. They (US-Zionists) tried to corner Iran (without a leader). But that instead gave Iran greater resilience against its enemies (US-Zionists),” Younger stated.

Iran’s calculations regarding the US-Zionist aggression are no small matter. According to Younger, Iran has turned the warfare initiated by the US-Zionists into sporadic resistance.

Younger noted that Iran has also calculated its response to the US-Zionists by striking all parties in the Middle East region that assist those two aggressors.

This Iranian resistance, according to Younger, has forced the current war to expand, creating a crisis in the region and threatening global security, while labelling the US-Zionists as the main instigators of the warfare.
