Jakarta - Former President Director of PT Metra Digital Investama (MDI) Donald Surjana Wihardja faced the verdict hearing for the alleged corruption case concerning the management of investment funds in PT Tani Group Indonesia (TaniHub). According to the Case Tracking Information System of the Central Jakarta District Court, the hearing was scheduled for 10:00 WIB in Wirjono Projodikoro 2 courtroom, Corruption Court at the Central Jakarta District Court, on Thursday. Previously, Donald was sentenced to 12 years in prison and a fine of Rp1 billion, with the provision that if unpaid, it would be replaced by 190 days of imprisonment. Donald, among other things, is alleged to have provided investment to TaniHub based solely on administrative data provided by Tani Group without directly verifying the truth of the data and actual field conditions. This act was carried out jointly with former Vice President of Investment of PT MDI Aldi Adrian Hartanto, who was also sentenced to the same penalty as Donald, namely 12 years in prison and a fine of Rp1 billion, subsidiary 190 days imprisonment. Aldi also faced the verdict hearing on the same day. The unlawful acts of Donald together with Aldi allegedly enriched Ivan Arie Sustiawan by Rp2.29 billion; Edison Tobing by Rp92.89 million; and PT Tani Group Indonesia by 25 million US dollars, equivalent to Rp364.22 billion. Subsequently, these funds were channelled to the entity PT TaniHub Indonesia amounting to Rp162.91 billion and PT TaniSupply Indonesia amounting to Rp77.22 billion. For their actions, both defendants face criminal penalties stipulated in Article 603 in conjunction with Article 618 in conjunction with Article 20 letter c of the National Criminal Code or Article 3 in conjunction with Article 18 paragraph (1) letter b of Law Number 31 of 1999 concerning the Eradication of Criminal Acts of Corruption as amended and supplemented by Law Number 20 of 2001. Besides PT MDI, there were also two officials from an investment company charged with corruption in the management of investment funds in TaniHub during the same period, causing state losses of 5 million US dollars, equivalent to Rp73.3 billion. The two defendants in question, namely Nicko Widjaja and William Gozali, were also scheduled to face their verdict hearing on the same day and face criminal penalties under the same articles as the officials from PT MDI. Nicko and William were each sentenced to 11 years and 9 years in prison respectively, and a fine of Rp1 billion, subsidiary 190 days imprisonment.
