Former KPK Investigator Novel Baswedan Confident Acid Attack on Andrie Yunus Is Organised Assassination Attempt
Jakarta – Former investigator at the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK), Novel Baswedan, believes the acid attack against Andrie Yunus, Vice Coordinator of the Commission for Missing Persons and Violence Victims (KontraS), was intended to take his life.
According to Baswedan, this is evident from the fact that the acid was directed at Andrie’s face area. “At the very least, the perpetrator intended to cause permanent disfigurement. This shows how evil these perpetrators are,” he stated firmly.
As a result of the incident, the former senior KPK investigator himself lost vision in his left eye. Baswedan revealed that he had reviewed CCTV footage recording the moment two men poured acid on Andrie. From the footage, he is convinced that the assault on Andrie represents an organised crime.
“I am convinced the perpetrators are organised. It is not simply two people on one motorcycle – no, it is organised! They have symbols they use in the field, so when they attack it is highly coordinated,” Baswedan said emphatically.
“This was a planned attack. So how evil and barbaric these individuals are,” he added.
Baswedan is urging law enforcement and relevant authorities to conduct a thorough investigation into the acid attack on Andrie Yunus. He has also called on President Prabowo to pay special attention to the case.
“This is not merely ordinary crime; it is an extraordinary crime. We must push for a thorough investigation, monitor it closely, and insist that it be investigated comprehensively and completely,” Baswedan stated firmly.
The attack on KontraS Vice Coordinator Andrie Yunus by unidentified individuals occurred on Thursday evening. According to Dimas Bagus Arya, Coordinator of KontraS’s Working Board, the incident took place at 23:37 Western Indonesia Time as Andrie Yunus was riding a motorbike on Jalan Salemba I-Talang, Senen, Central Jakarta.
