Former Junior Attorney General for Special Crimes Allegedly Involved in Multiple Corruption Cases Since 2022

Public policy and political economy expert Faisal Lohy has stated that there are findings indicating the alleged involvement of former Junior Attorney General for Special Crimes (Jampidsus), Febrie Adriansyah, in a number of corruption cases that have surfaced since 2022. The statement was made during a public discussion in Jakarta. Faisal highlighted that one of the key findings relates to alleged corruption in the mining sector. Based on his review, several names and at least a dozen companies require further investigation by law enforcement officials. He emphasised that if the investigation uncovers indications of money laundering, the probe must not stop at the predicate crime but should also trace the flow of funds, assets, and identify the beneficial owners. Faisal also urged investigators to examine Febrie Adriansyah’s role during his tenure as Chairman of the Forest Area Regulation Task Force. He believes it is crucial to assess whether there is a connection between the authority held in that position and the alleged criminal acts currently under investigation. Furthermore, Faisal encouraged the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) to take over the case if it meets the criteria stipulated in Law Number 19 of 2019, particularly if there is a potential conflict of interest or a need for stronger independence in handling the matter. He also expressed hope that President Prabowo Subianto would pay close attention to the law enforcement process, asserting that the government’s commitment to eradicating corruption must be realised through transparent, independent, and non-discriminatory legal enforcement.
