Former Junior Attorney General Febrie Adriansyah Questioned in Asabri Case, Not Detained
The Attorney General’s Office (Kejagung) has completed its examination of former Junior Attorney General for Special Crimes, Febrie Adriansyah, in connection with the alleged corruption and money laundering case at PT Asabri. Febrie’s lawyer, Hotman Paris, stated that his client was questioned from 09:00 WIB and answered 18 questions over approximately 11 hours. “The conclusion is that there is no detention. He was examined as a suspect and there is no detention today. Today was limited to the PT Asabri case,” Hotman said during a press conference at the Kejagung building on Friday (17/7). Separately, the Head of the Attorney General’s Office Legal Information Centre, Anang Supriatna, confirmed that the decision to detain a suspect is entirely the authority of the investigators based on their considerations. The Kejagung had previously issued three new investigation warrants related to the case, following the transfer of cases from the Police. These warrants cover alleged corruption and money laundering at PT Krakatau Steel, coal procurement for PLN’s power plants that resulted in a blackout, and the ASABRI case. Investigators have named two suspects: private sector individual Don Ritto and Febrie Adriansyah. Febrie is suspected of involvement in corruption and money laundering during the legal handling of the ASABRI case and other alleged corruption cases. The Kejagung has also formed a special team of nine senior prosecutors, most of whom previously served at the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK), to handle the case.
