Former Junior Attorney General for Special Crimes (Jampidsus) Febrie Adriansyah has appointed prominent lawyer Hotman Paris Hutapea as his legal counsel. The legal representation follows Febrie being named a suspect in an alleged corruption and money laundering case currently being investigated by the Attorney General’s Office.

Hotman visited the Round Building of the Attorney General’s Office in South Jakarta on Friday (17/7/2026). He confirmed he would be defending Febrie against the charges initially brought by investigators from the Corruption Eradication Task Force of the National Police.

“The official power of attorney was signed this morning,” Hotman said when confirmed in Jakarta on Friday. However, he did not provide further comment on the case ensnaring Febrie. “I am just about to meet him,” Hotman said.

He stated he would provide further responses after communicating directly with his client. “Yes, later,” said Hotman, who arrived at the Round Building around 10.00 a.m. Western Indonesian Time.

Hotman’s arrival at the Jampidsus building appeared special. He entered the Round Building and went directly to the basement car park, an area not typically used by the general public or guests. During his tenure as Jampidsus, Febrie always arrived at the Round Building via the basement level, which is reserved for parking and access for principal officials within Jampidsus.

In his role as an advocate, Hotman has previously been a courtroom rival of Jampidsus during Febrie’s tenure. Early on, Hotman served as the lawyer for Nadiem Makarim in a corruption case involving Chromebook laptops, which was prosecuted by Jampidsus.
