The legal team of former Junior Attorney General for Special Crimes (Jampidsus) Febrie Adriansyah has officially filed two separate pretrial motions with the South Jakarta District Court on Wednesday (5/8/2026). The motions seek to test the validity of coercive measures, the clarity of charges, and the alleged double designation of a suspect by the Attorney General’s Office and the National Police’s Corruption Eradication Corps (Kortas Tipikor).

A member of the legal team, Firman Wijaya, explained that the pretrial motions were deliberately separated into two filings because the legal actions and objects being tested have different foundations. The first motion focuses on challenging the validity of the suspect designation for money laundering (TPPU) and the subsequent detention carried out by investigators at the Attorney General’s Office. The second motion contests the suspect designation for corruption and money laundering, while also questioning the legality of search and seizure actions conducted by the National Police’s Kortas Tipikor.

Another member of the legal team, Muhammad Farizi, alleged that the coercive measures taken by the Attorney General’s Office violated Article 100, Paragraph 5 of the Criminal Procedure Code (KUHAP) and failed to concretely explain the predicate crime underlying the charges against Febrie. The legal team also highlighted the issue of a double suspect designation for the same substantive matter and questioned the authority of the official who signed the suspect designation letter.

Febri Diansyah, also a member of the legal team, stated that the pretrial motions were filed to ensure that law enforcement processes are conducted accountably and free from arbitrary actions. He stressed the importance of adhering to the principle of due process of law to prevent the violation of individual rights. The South Jakarta District Court has scheduled the pretrial hearings regarding the corruption and money laundering suspect status for 18-19 August 2026.
