Jakarta, VIVA – The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has confirmed that former Deputy Attorney General for Special Crimes (Jampidsus), Febrie Adriansyah, is serving his detention at the KPK Detention Centre without any special treatment.

KPK spokesperson Budi Prasetyo said all inmates at the KPK Detention Centre are treated according to applicable standard operating procedures, without regard to their background or the status of their cases.

Budi said the detention centre’s management rules are applied equally to all detainees, whether implicated in corruption or money laundering cases.

“In the detention of suspect FA, there is no special treatment; everything remains in line with the standards and procedures for managing the KPK Detention Centre. This also applies to other suspects,” said Budi on Monday, 27 July 2026.

Earlier, the Attorney General’s Office (Kejaksaan Agung) handed Febrie over to the KPK Detention Centre on Friday evening, 24 July 2026. Upon arrival under tight escort, Febrie wore a batik shirt without the pink detainee vest or handcuffs.

Responding to this, Deputy Attorney General for Supervision (Jamwas) Rudi Margono explained that this occurred because investigators were pressed for time late at night, so the administrative process was carried out quickly.

Meanwhile, Febrie considers his naming as a suspect a form of criminalisation. He argues that investigators have not examined the case thoroughly and that the evidence in hand still requires deeper scrutiny.

The Attorney General’s Office named Febrie a suspect in an alleged money laundering case after undergoing questioning for approximately 10 hours. The case relates to the discovery of evidence in the form of 74 kilogrammes of gold and foreign currency worth billions of rupiah at a house in the Sentul area.

Examination Remains the Attorney General’s Authority

Although detained at the KPK Detention Centre, Budi stressed that the entire investigation and examination of Febrie remains fully under the authority of the Attorney General’s Office.

According to him, the KPK is only providing the detention facility as part of cooperation between law enforcement agencies and is not involved in the substance of the investigation.

KPK Chairman Setyo Budiyanto also stated that the Attorney General’s Office has full authority to conduct examinations in accordance with prevailing laws and regulations.

Currently, the KPK is merely carrying out coordination under a semi-supervision scheme by deploying monitoring teams throughout the case handling process.
