Former Iranian Foreign Minister Dies After Being Wounded in US-Israel Attack
Former Iranian Foreign Minister (Menlu) Kamal Kharrazi has died from the wounds he suffered in the United States-Israel attack earlier this week. According to Iranian media outlet Press TV on Friday (10/4/2026), Kharrazi, who was injured in the attack on 1 April targeting his home in Tehran, the capital of Iran, passed away on Thursday (9/4) night local time, as reported by those close to him. His wife also died in the same attack. Kharrazi held many important positions throughout his illustrious career in public service, which spanned several decades since the 1979 Islamic Revolution. He led the Strategic Council for Foreign Relations and served as a senior advisor to Iran’s Supreme Leader. Established in June 2006, the Strategic Council for Foreign Relations is Iran’s leading think tank and advisory body that reports directly to the Supreme Leader. The institution is renowned for its long-term strategic perspective on foreign relations, providing high-level analysis and advice on national interest issues and international diplomacy. Kharrazi also served as foreign minister from 20 August 1997 to 24 August 2005 and as a member of the Policy-Determining Council. His death comes amid the United States-Israel war against the Islamic Republic of Iran, which began on 28 February and has claimed more than 2,000 lives. Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei and several government officials and high-ranking military commanders also fell in the US-Israel aggression.
