Former Indramayu Regent Nina Agustina visited the residence of former President Joko Widodo in Sumber, Banjarsari District, Solo, Central Java, on Wednesday, February 25, 2026. The visit by the politician, who was previously known as a cadre of the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDIP), was reportedly to seek Widodo’s blessing to join the Indonesian Solidarity Party (PSI).

Nina arrived in the afternoon accompanied by the Chairman of the West Java Regional Leadership Council of PSI, Abang Ijo Hapidin, and several PSI cadres. Speaking to reporters, Nina described the meeting as a friendly gathering.

“During the harvest festival in Indramayu, he (Jokowi) attended twice. Hopefully, Indramayu will become even better,” said Nina after meeting with Jokowi.

Nina did not deny that the meeting with Jokowi also discussed politics. She admitted that she had sought Jokowi’s blessing for her new political move to join PSI. She also acknowledged that Jokowi’s figure was one of the considerations in her decision to join PSI.

“Thank God, he gave his blessing. Yes, (Jokowi’s figure) was one of the considerations (in joining PSI),” said Nina.

The daughter of the former Chief of the Indonesian National Police, Da’i Bachtiar, emphasized that her move to PSI was not due to problems with her previous party. According to her, all the political processes she had gone through remain an important part of her career journey.

“There are no (problems). Everything is for the best. I used to be a member (of PDIP), and it gave me many good things, especially when I served in Indramayu. Now, I may be joining PSI, God willing, for West Java,” she said.

Nina also revealed the message that Jokowi conveyed during the meeting. According to her, the father of Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka, advised her to continue maintaining good intentions and to remain present among the people.

“Basically, the important thing is to maintain good relations and continue to engage with the community,” said Nina.

Abang also confirmed that Nina was joining PSI to strengthen the party’s structure at the provincial level. However, he has not yet announced the position that Nina will hold in the PSI leadership.

“We will inform you later. We will have a meeting first within the Regional Leadership Council. Today, we just sought his blessing,” said Abang.

According to Abang, his party is targeting to win seats in the DPR RI, provincial DPRD, and district/city DPRD in the upcoming elections.

“PSI West Java’s target is to produce great leaders. First, the DPR RI, then the provincial DPRD, hopefully, all 27 districts/cities will be represented. God willing,” he said.

Abang is optimistic that Nina’s presence will have an electoral impact for PSI in West Java, in addition to the Jokowi effect.

“God willing, her presence (Nina Agustina) will have a significant impact. Especially with the Jokowi effect. That’s all, thank you,” he said, concluding the interview.
