Former Indramayu Regent, Nina Agustina Dai Bachtiar, paid a visit to the residence of the seventh President of Indonesia, Joko Widodo (Jokowi), in Sumber Village, Banjarsari District, Solo City, on Wednesday (25/2).

She was accompanied by the Head of PSI’s West Java (Jabar) branch, Abang Ijo Hapidin.

Hapidin stated that Nina’s visit to Jokowi’s residence was to seek his blessing to join PSI.

“Mrs. Nina is now joining us, to strengthen PSI in West Java,” Hapidin told the media, as quoted by detikJateng.

At the PSI National Working Meeting in Makassar in January 2026, Jokowi was named as a role model and the main political figure guiding the party’s movement.

In addition, Jokowi is the father of PSI’s Chairman, Kaesang Pangarep.

Hapidin said that Nina’s position in PSI will be determined during a meeting of the PSI’s West Java branch. On Wednesday, he said, Nina only sought Jokowi’s blessing to join PSI.

“We will inform you (about Nina’s position in PSI) later, after the meeting of the branch. This was to seek his blessing, and it was granted. God willing, PSI in West Java will become even stronger with her presence, which will have a significant impact,” said Hapidin.

The joining of the Indramayu Regent for the 2021-2024 period is a new strength for PSI in West Java. He hopes that PSI’s targets in West Java can be achieved, especially with the support from Jokowi.

“Our target is to help elect great leaders, to the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI), and the Provincial Legislative Council (DPRD). God willing, all 27 districts and cities will be covered, because there is a ‘Jokowi effect’,” he explained.

Meanwhile, Nina said that her visit to Jokowi’s residence was to maintain good relations. She said that Jokowi had visited Indramayu twice for harvest festivals.

She revealed the reasons for joining PSI, and the messages conveyed by Jokowi to her.

“Basically, we can both reach the people. (Is Jokowi a figure in PSI?) One of them. (What was Jokowi’s message?) Basically, we must both maintain good relations and continue to serve the people,” said the former PDIP politician.

When asked why she left her previous party, Nina declined to explain in detail.

“Everything is for the best. I used to be a member and it gave me the opportunity to do good for Indramayu. Now I am joining Mr. Jokowi in PSI, God willing, to serve West Java,” she said.
