The Indonesian Navy (TNI AL) is mourning the loss of former Navy Chief of Staff (KSAL), Admiral (Ret.) Achmad Sutjipto. The news was confirmed via the Navy’s official Instagram account on Thursday (18/6/2026).

Achmad Sutjipto served as the 16th Chief of Staff of the Indonesian Navy. The Navy expressed its deepest condolences, praying for his forgiveness and that he be granted a place in heaven.

Deputy Chairman of House of Representatives Commission I, Dave Laksono, also paid tribute, calling the late admiral one of the nation’s best sons. He noted that Sutjipto’s dedication and professionalism were integral to the development of Indonesia’s national defence forces.

‘His passing is a loss for the entire TNI family. The values of service, leadership, and exemplary conduct he demonstrated will remain an inspiration for future generations in safeguarding national sovereignty and interests,’ Dave said. He also extended his heartfelt sympathies to the bereaved family, hoping they would be granted strength and fortitude.
