The Regent of Agam, Benni Warlis, recently met with the Territorial Assistant of the Commander of the Padang Naval Regional Command (Aster Dankodaeral) II, Lieutenant Colonel Octav Bayu Dirgantara, to discuss the utilisation of former PT Inang Sari land cultivation rights (HGU) for a soybean planting programme.

Lieutenant Colonel Octav Bayu Dirgantara explained that the soybean planting programme is an effort to support national food security while increasing the productivity of land that has not been optimally utilised. He noted that coordination has already been conducted with the West Sumatra Provincial Government and several local farmer groups, all of whom have responded positively to the initiative as it presents opportunities to increase community income.

Regent Benni Warlises expressed his appreciation and support for the programme, stating that it aligns with government efforts to strengthen the agricultural sector and improve community welfare. He noted that utilising former HGU land for productive activities like soybean cultivation would provide economic benefits to the surrounding community and support food security programmes.

However, the Regent emphasised the importance of providing clear communication to the public regarding the land’s status. He clarified that the land, which was formerly under PT Inang Sari’s HGU, has reverted to state assets following the expiry of its management rights. He stressed that the land use is strictly for agricultural business activities and does not grant private ownership, warning that the public must understand that the land remains state property to avoid future disputes. The Regent hopes this collaboration between the government, the TNI, and the community will serve as a model for productive and sustainable agricultural development.
