Judges at the Mataram Corruption Court (Tipikor) have sentenced Jalaludin, the former Head of Central Lombok’s Bapenda for 2021, to five years in prison. He was found guilty in the corruption case concerning incentive payments for the Street Lighting Tax (PPJ) from 2019 to 2023.

“Imposing a prison sentence on the defendant of five years,” ruled Chief Judge Dewi Santini in the courtroom on Thursday (30/4/2026).

In addition to the prison term, Jalaludin was also imposed a fine of Rp150 million, which must be paid within six months after the verdict gains legal force.

“Determining that the fine payment be made in instalments of Rp5 million per day for 30 days,” she said.

If the fine is not paid, the defendant’s assets will be seized and auctioned to cover the fine. “If the wealth and income are insufficient to pay the fine, it will be replaced with imprisonment for 240 days,” she stated.

The judges also imposed an additional penalty of an obligation to pay restitution of more than Rp332 million. If not paid within one month after the verdict gains legal force, the defendant’s assets will be seized and auctioned by the prosecutors.

“If there are no sufficient assets to pay the restitution, then imprisonment for one year,” she said.

In the verdict’s ruling, the judges stated that Jalaludin was proven guilty of violating the provisions as charged under Article 604 of Law No. 1 of 2023 on the Criminal Code in conjunction with Article 18 Paragraph (1) letter b, paragraph (2) and paragraph (3) of Law No. 31 of 1999 on the Eradication of Criminal Acts of Corruption as amended by Law No. 20 of 2001 in conjunction with Article 20 letters a, c, and d of Law No. 1 of 2023 on the Criminal Code.

“Stating that the defendant is legally and convincingly proven guilty of committing corruption in collusion as charged in the subsidiary indictment,” she said.

The verdict is lighter than the prosecutors’ demand. Previously, the prosecutors demanded six years and six months in prison and a fine of Rp300 million subsidiary to 100 days’ imprisonment for Jalaludin. The prosecutors also demanded restitution of Rp332 million subsidiary to three years and six months’ imprisonment.

In this case, Jalaludin was not alone. He was a defendant along with former Bapenda Treasurer of Central Lombok, Lalu Bahtiar Sukmadinata, and former Head of Central Lombok Bapenda for 2019-2021, Lalu Karyawan.

For defendant Lalu Bahtiar Sukmadinata, the judges had previously imposed a prison sentence of four years and a fine of Rp50 million subsidiary to 50 days.
