Former Gowa Regent Named Suspect Again in False Testimony Case
Former Gowa Regent Sitti Husniah Talenrang has again been named a suspect in an alleged false testimony case connected to divorce proceedings. Her former husband, Muhammad Khairul Aco, reported the case to the South Sulawesi Police.
“Yes, HT [Husniah Talenrang] was named a suspect last week,” South Sulawesi Police public relations chief, Senior Commissioner Didik Supranoto, said on Friday (30 October).
Although she has been named a suspect, investigators have not yet questioned Husniah because she is ill, Didik said.
“She was scheduled to be questioned last Thursday, but her lawyers informed us that HT’s health had deteriorated. We then checked with the hospital, and she was indeed ill,” he said.
Didik said Husniah’s lawyers had asked for the questioning to be rescheduled for next week.
“So, last Thursday’s questioning was cancelled. Her lawyers requested that it take place on 5 November,” he said.
Husniah had previously been named a suspect in an alleged extortion and money-laundering case being handled by the South Sulawesi Police’s Special Crimes Directorate. Didik said he did not yet know whether the suspect’s side had submitted a request for her release from detention.
“We will check again whether one has been submitted. I haven’t had a chance to ask the investigators yet,” he said.
Husniah remains in detention at the South Sulawesi Police detention centre, following medical treatment.
“Yes, HT is being held at the Police detention centre and is back in her cell. She was examined yesterday and was found to be ill, so she received treatment at the hospital,” he concluded.
