As reported by detikSumbagsel, Alex Noerdin died at the age of 76. The news of his passing had been circulating on WhatsApp.

Alex Noerdin’s health was reportedly deteriorating since Friday, 20 February 2026, and he was rushed to Siloam Hospital in Palembang.

However, due to inadequate medical equipment, the former Governor of South Sumatra, who served two terms, was transferred to Siloam Hospital in Jakarta. His court hearing, which was scheduled to hear witness testimony at the Corruption Court of the Class 1 A Palembang District Court, had to be cancelled due to his critical condition.

The family spokesperson, Okta Alfarisi, confirmed the news of Alex Noerdin’s death.

“Innalilahi wainnailaihi rojiun, Mr. Alex Noerdin has passed away at 13:30 WIB at Siloam Hospital in Jakarta,” said Okta.

Okta stated that the family is currently arranging for the repatriation of the body to Palembang.

“We are currently arranging for the repatriation of the deceased’s body to Palembang, and we will announce where he will be buried,” he concluded.
