Former Deputy Minister of Manpower, Immanuel Ebenezer, Faces Sentencing Hearing in K3 Case Today
Former Deputy Minister of Manpower for the 2024-2025 period, Immanuel Ebenezer Gerungan, is scheduled to attend the sentencing hearing presided over by a panel of judges at the Corruption Court of the Central Jakarta District Court on Thursday (June 4). According to data from the Case Information System (SIPP) of the Central Jakarta District Court, the hearing is scheduled to begin at 10:00 AM in the Kusuma Atmadja Hearing Room. This crucial hearing will be led by Chief Justice Nur Sari Baktiana.
Previously, the Public Prosecutor (JPU) had filed a criminal charge seeking a five-year prison sentence for Noel. In addition, he was charged with paying a fine of IDR 250 million or 90 days of imprisonment, as well as an obligation to pay compensation amounting to IDR 4.43 billion or two years of imprisonment.
Noel was charged with being involved in a case of alleged extortion related to the processing of Occupational Safety and Health (K3) certificates within the Ministry of Manpower (Kemenaker) and receiving gratification during his tenure. The total value of the extortion from applicants for K3 certificates or licenses is estimated to reach IDR 6.52 billion.

During the trial, it was revealed that this extortion practice targeted a number of certificate applicants, including Fanny Fania Octapiani, Fransisca Xaveriana, and Sri Enggarwati. Specifically, Noel is alleged to have obtained personal benefits of IDR 70 million from the extortion scheme.
In addition to the extortion case, Noel was also charged with alleged gratification. He is alleged to have received IDR 3.36 billion and one unit of a blue Ducati Scrambler motorcycle from civil servants (ASN) of the Kemenaker and other private parties during his tenure as Deputy Minister of Manpower.
For his actions, the former Deputy Minister was charged with violating Article 12 paragraph e or Article 12 paragraph b and Article 12 B in conjunction with Article 18 of Law Number 31 of 1999 concerning the Eradication of Criminal Acts of Corruption, as amended by Law Number 20 of 2001, in conjunction with Article 20 paragraph c in conjunction with Article 127 paragraph (1) of the National Criminal Code.
