Jakarta — Former Deputy Minister of Manpower for the 2024–2025 period, Immanuel “Noel” Ebenezer Gerungan, has stated that no testimony has linked him to the alleged extortion of occupational safety and health (K3) certifications. Despite this, witness examination sessions have already been conducted nine times. “We hope that future examination sessions will yield the same results,” said Noel following a witness examination session at the Corruption Crimes Court at Central Jakarta District Court on Monday.

He assessed that the panel of judges at the Corruption Court has thus far been objective in conducting the proceedings regarding the alleged K3 certification extortion case. Similarly, he noted that the public prosecutors from the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) have been quite professional. “However, the KPK leadership — how to put it — the standard they apply does not seem to be a standard of justice,” he remarked.

The alleged extortion is said to have been committed jointly with 10 other defendants: Temurila, Miki Mahfud, Fahrurozi, Hery Sutanto, Subhan, Gerry Aditya Herwanto Putra, Irvian Bobby Mahendro Putro, Sekarsari Kartika Putri, Anitasari Kusumawati, and Supriadi.

The K3 certification applicants allegedly extorted by the defendants include Fanny Fania Octapiani, Fransisca Xaveriana, Grhadini Lukitasari Tasya, Intan Fitria Permatasari, Muhammad Deny, Nicken Ayu Wulandari, Nur Aisyah Astuti, Octavia Voni Andari, Shalsabila Salu, and Sri Enggarwati.

In detail, the alleged extortion was conducted to benefit the defendants tried jointly, with Noel allegedly benefiting by Rp70 million; Fahrurozi Rp270.95 million; Hery, Gerry, and Sekarsari each Rp652.24 million; Subhan and Anitasari each Rp326.12 million; Irvian Rp978.35 million; and Supriadi Rp294.06 million.

Meanwhile, alleged gratification received by Noel comprised cash worth Rp3.36 billion and one dark blue Ducati Scrambler motorcycle, from state civil apparatus (ASN) of the Ministry of Manpower and other private parties during his tenure as Deputy Minister.

For these alleged actions, the former Deputy Minister faces charges under Article 12 letter e or Article 12 letter b and Article 12 B in conjunction with Article 18 of Law Number 31 of 1999 concerning the Eradication of Corruption Offences, as amended and supplemented by Law 20/2001, in conjunction with Article 20 letter c in conjunction with Article 127 paragraph (1) of the National Criminal Code.
