Former Defence Minister Ryamizard Ryacudu's Body Laid to Rest in Cikeas, Bogor
Wrapped in the red and white flag, Ryamizard Ryacudu’s coffin was placed in an ambulance parked at Gatot Subroto Army Central Hospital in Jakarta before being transported to a funeral home in Cikeas, Bogor for the wake. This was confirmed by Defence Ministry’s Information Bureau Chief Brigadier General Rico Ricardo Sirait. “This afternoon, the body will be laid to rest at the funeral home located at Perumahan Puri Wira Bhakti 1/1B, Cikeas, Bogor,” he stated on Sunday, 31 May 2026. Ryamizard Ryacudu passed away at the age of 76 on Sunday afternoon, 31 May 2026. He died at Gatot Subroto Army Central Hospital in Jakarta at 2:03 PM WIB. Ryamizard Ryacudu graduated from the Indonesian National Armed Forces Academy for the land forces in 1974. He held several strategic positions within the military. In 1999, Ryamizard Ryacudu was appointed Commander of the V/Brawijaya Military Regional Command. Shortly after, he was transferred to the Jakarta Military Regional Command as Commander until 2000. His career advanced when he was appointed Commander of the Army Strategic Reserve Command from 2000 to 2002, followed by serving as Chief of Staff of the Army until 2005. His career continued in government when he was appointed Defence Minister during President Joko Widodo’s first term. During his tenure at the Ministry of Defence, the retired general initiated the ‘Bela Negara’ programme.
