Former Defence Minister Ryamizard Ryacudu Dies at RSPAD

Former Defence Minister Ryamizard Ryacudu died at the Army Central Hospital (RSPAD) on Sunday, 31 May 2026. ‘We have received news of the passing of General (Retired) Ryamizard Ryacudu today, Sunday, 31 May 2026 at 14:03 WIB at RSPAD,’ said Brigadier General Rico Sirait, Head of Public Relations for the Ministry of Defence’s Secretariat General, to Kompas.com. Ryamizard served as Defence Minister during President Joko Widodo’s first term from 2014 to 2019. Prior to this role, his last position in the military was Chief of Staff of the Army (KSAD), which he held for three years from 2002 to 2005. He graduated from the Military Academy (Akmil) in 1974 with an infantry background.
