Former Defence Minister from SBY Era, Juwono Sudarsono, Passes Away

Former Defence Minister (Menhan) from President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono’s (SBY) era, Juwono Sudarsono, has passed away. Besides the SBY era, Juwono also served as Menhan during President Abdurrahman Wahid’s, or Gus Dur’s, administration. “That’s correct, Mr Juwono Sudarsono has passed away,” stated Brigadier General Rico Ricardo Sirait, the Information Officer of the Ministry of Defence’s Secretariat General, when contacted on Saturday (28/3/2026), quoted from detikNews. Juwono is known to have died at 1:45 PM WIB at RSPI Pondok Indah, Jakarta. The late Juwono is scheduled to be buried at the Heroes’ Cemetery (TMP) Kalibata, South Jakarta, on Sunday (29/3). Juwono breathed his last at the age of 84. Previously, Juwono also served as Indonesia’s Minister of Education and Culture during President B.J. Habibie’s era.
