The former Mayor of Cirebon, Nashrudin Azis, has been sentenced to 10 years in prison in a corruption case concerning the construction of a regional secretariat building worth Rp26.5 billion. The sentence was handed down during a trial at the Bandung Corruption Court on Thursday (18/6/2026). He was also fined Rp500 million. The public prosecutor deemed the defendant legally and convincingly proven guilty of committing corruption amounting to Rp26.5 billion in the construction of the secretariat building between 2016 and 2018. Ira Mambo, Nashrudin Azis’s legal counsel, stated that the sentence was the prosecutor’s prerogative and declined to comment further. ‘It is the prosecutor’s authority. If you want to compare, all defendants receive different sentences,’ she said on Thursday (17/6/2026). She added that the defence plea against the sentence would be presented at the next hearing. ‘Just listen later to what my request is regarding all the charges,’ she said.
