Former Cipancar Village Head Named Suspect in Rp653 Million Village Fund Corruption Case Used to Pay Debts
The former Head of Cipancar Village, identified by the initials YS, has been named a suspect in an alleged corruption case involving village funds for the years 2022 and 2023 in Cipancar Village, Leles District, Garut Regency. The perpetrator allegedly used Rp653 million of the village funds to pay off debts.
Garut Police Criminal Investigation Unit Chief, AKP Joko Prihatin, stated that the alleged corruption case involving the former village head was reported by the community on 1 September 202_ [Note: original text contains future date error]. Following the report, officers conducted investigations and in-depth inquiries.
“The suspect, YS, who was serving as the Head of Cipancar Village at the time, allegedly failed to implement the budget usage in accordance with the provisions set out in the Cipancar Village Budget (APBDes) for the 2022 and 2023 fiscal years,” he said on Wednesday.
He further explained that the perpetrator is suspected of abusing his authority, resulting in losses to state finances. A total of 54 witnesses from various village elements, the Department of Community and Village Empowerment, and the Regional Financial and Asset Management Agency have been interrogated.
“Based on the results of the state financial loss calculation audit (PKKN) conducted by the Garut Regency Regional Inspectorate, it was found that the state suffered losses amounting to Rp653,562,688,” he added.
