Former Chinese PM to visit E. Java

JAKARTA: Former Chinese prime minister Li Peng, who is
currently chairman of China's National Congress, will make a two-
day visit to Surabaya, East Java on September 11 and 12 together
with a 12-strong Chinese business delegation, a visiting Chinese
official says.

Lu Chong-min, deputy secretary general of China's National
Congress, said Friday that Li Peng's visit aimed to promote
bilateral cooperation between the People's Republic of China and
the East Java province.

The Chinese delegation would, among other things, collect
first-hand information about the Surabaya-based ship-building
company P.T. PAL, household goods manufacturing company P.T.
Maspion Group and the petrochemical firm P.T. Petrokimia. --
