Former Central Java Police Officer Tried for Death of Female Lecturer
Semarang — A former Deputy Director of Internal Security (Kasubdit Dalmas) at Central Java Regional Police Headquarters, AKBP Basuki, is standing trial for negligence resulting in the death of a female lecturer at a higher education institution in Semarang, Dwinanda Linchia Levi.
Public Prosecutor Ardhika Wisnu of the Semarang State Prosecutor’s Office presented the case at Semarang District Court on Wednesday, establishing that Levi’s death occurred on 17 November 2025 at a lodging facility in Gajah Mungkur District, Semarang.
The defendant, who had a special relationship with the victim, was staying at the accommodation before her death.
The prosecutor stated that the defendant awoke and found the victim in an unusual condition during the early morning hours.
“The defendant awoke and observed the victim in a gasping condition,” the prosecutor told the court, which was presided over by Chief Judge Achmad Rasjid.
In response to this condition, the prosecutor argued, the defendant did not immediately seek medical assistance or other help.
According to the prosecution, despite knowing the victim had died, the defendant left the scene to meet with someone else before reporting the incident to police the following afternoon.
The defendant is charged under Article 428 of Law Number 1 of 2023 concerning abandonment resulting in someone’s death, or alternatively Article 474 concerning negligence resulting in death.
The defendant did not file any exception to the charges and admitted to the acts as alleged by the prosecution. The trial will reconvene next week to hear witness testimony.
