JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - Former Chairman of the Financial Audit Board (BPK) Agung Firman Sampurna was presented as an expert witness to support the defendant, former Minister of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology Nadiem Makarim, in the continuation of the trial for the alleged corruption case involving the procurement of Chromebook-based laptops.

“I know him (Nadiem) as the Minister of Education because at the same time, I was the Chairman of the BPK, Your Honour, but I do not know him personally,” Agung stated during the trial at the Jakarta Corruption Court on Wednesday (6/5/2026).

Agung is known to have served as Chairman of the BPK from October 2019 to April 2022.

During the same period, Nadiem served as Minister of Education and Culture.

Today, Agung was presented as a forensic audit expert to explain the calculation of state losses.

“On this occasion, we request that the expert explain the guidelines, norms, and audit standards that must be met in auditing the calculation of state financial losses, including the auditor’s obligation to act independently, objectively, based on sufficient and competent evidence, as well as the legal consequences if the audit report is prepared without meeting the applicable audit standards,” explained Nadiem’s legal adviser, Ari Yusuf.

In the upcoming question-and-answer session, Agung will be probed on his understanding of the requirements for calculating state losses so that the calculation results can be declared real, certain, and valid.

In this case, former Minister of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology Nadiem Makarim, along with three other defendants, is said to have caused state financial losses amounting to Rp 2.1 trillion.

Nadiem is accused of enriching himself by Rp 809 billion.

This figure is said to stem from Google’s investment in Gojek or PT AKAB.

Meanwhile, Mulyatsyah is said to have received SGD 120,000 and USD 150,000.

Nadiem is alleged to have abused his authority, thereby making Google the sole controller of IT procurement, including laptops, in Indonesia’s technology ecosystem.
