Semarang (ANTARA) - The Semarang Corruption Court has delivered an acquittal verdict for Yuddy Renaldi, the former President Director of PT Bank Pembangunan Daerah Jawa Barat dan Banten, Tbk (BJB), in the alleged corruption case concerning the provision of credit facilities to PT Sritex, which resulted in losses to the regional government-owned bank of approximately Rp670 billion. “We declare the defendant not proven guilty according to the public prosecutor’s charges in their entirety,” stated Presiding Judge Rommel Franciskus Tampubolon during the hearing in Semarang on Thursday. During the trial, the panel of judges examined the public prosecutor’s charges, structured subsidiarily under Article 603 of the Criminal Code or Article 3 of Law No. 31 of 1999 as amended. According to the judge, there was never any order, pressure, or intervention from the defendant to process PT Sritex’s credit application. He explained that the defendant instead requested that the credit application be processed in accordance with regulations. Furthermore, he said, no subjective errors or malicious intent were found, whether in the form of deliberate actions or negligence. “The defendant had no intent to act unlawfully. The legal consequences that occurred in this case are not a result of the defendant’s actions, but from other parties outside the defendant’s knowledge, authority, or intent,” he stated. He added that the defendant was also unaware of the financial report manipulations carried out by PT Sritex. In its ruling, the court ordered the defendant’s immediate release upon the reading of the verdict. Regarding the decision, the judge permitted the public prosecutor to pursue further legal remedies. Previously, the Public Prosecutor had demanded a 10-year prison sentence for Yuddy Renaldi in the case.
