Former BJB CEO Acquitted in Sritex Case, Here Are the Judge's Considerations
The Semarang Corruption Court has issued an acquittal verdict for Yuddy Renaldi, the former President Director of PT Bank Pembangunan Daerah Jawa Barat dan Banten, Tbk (BJB), in the alleged corruption case concerning the provision of credit facilities to PT Sritex. The case is said to have caused losses to the regional government-owned bank of approximately Rp670 billion.
“The defendant is declared not guilty as charged by the public prosecutor in its entirety,” stated Chief Judge Rommel Franciskus Tampubolon during the hearing in Semarang on Thursday (7/5/2026).
During the trial, the panel of judges examined the public prosecutor’s charges, which were structured subsidiarily, namely violations of Article 603 of the Criminal Code or Article 3 of Law No. 31 of 1999 as amended by Law. According to the judge, there was never any order, pressure, or intervention from the defendant to process PT Sritex’s credit application. He explained that the defendant instead requested that the credit application be processed in accordance with the provisions.
“There is no evidence that the defendant abused his authority or position in deciding on the credit application,” he said.
Furthermore, he stated that no subjective fault or malicious intent was found, whether in the form of intent or negligence. “The defendant had no intention to act unlawfully. The legal consequences that occurred in this case are not a result of the defendant’s actions, but from other parties beyond the defendant’s knowledge, power, or will,” he said.
Rommel added that the defendant was also unaware of the financial report manipulations carried out by PT Sritex. In its ruling, the judge ordered the defendant to be released immediately after the verdict was read.
The judge also ordered the restoration of the defendant’s position, status, rights, and dignity due to being found not guilty of all charges by the prosecutors.
Regarding the verdict, the judge permitted the public prosecutor to pursue further legal remedies. Previously, the Public Prosecutor had demanded a 10-year prison sentence for Yuddy Renaldi in the case.
