Former BIN Chief Syamsir Siregar Passes Away

Former head of the State Intelligence Agency (BIN), Retired Major General Syamsir Siregar, passed away on Tuesday (25/8).

The sad news was posted on the official Instagram account of PT Japfa Comfeed Indonesia. The late Syamsir Siregar was last known to have served as President Commissioner at Japfa.

“Retired TNI Major General H. Syamsir Siregar, President Commissioner of PT Japfa Comfeed Indonesia Tbk, has passed away,” the post stated.

“The entire Board of Commissioners, Board of Directors, and employees of JAPFA extend their deepest condolences. May the deceased be granted the best place in the sight of Allah SWT,” the statement continued.

Syamsir Siregar was born in Pematangsiantar, North Sumatra, on 23 October 1941. He passed away at the age of 84.

He was an Indonesian military figure who served as head of BIN during the presidency of Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono.

The 1965 Military Academy graduate was known to have served as Chief of Staff of Kodam III/Siliwangi and as head of the ABRI Intelligence Agency from 1994 to 1996.
