Former BGN Deputy Lodewyk Pusung Files Pretrial Motion Over Corruption Suspect Status
Former National Nutrition Agency (BGN) Deputy Lodewyk Pusung has filed a legal challenge against his status as a suspect in an alleged corruption case concerning the management of the free nutritious meal (MBG) programme. Pusung is seeking to have his suspect status revoked.
Pusung challenged his suspect designation through a pretrial motion at the South Jakarta District Court (PN Jaksel). Pusung’s lawyer, OC Kaligis, requested that the determination of his client as a suspect be declared invalid.
“Declare that the Respondent’s actions in arresting the Petitioner, designating the Petitioner as a suspect, and detaining the Petitioner were arbitrary acts because they were not in accordance with applicable legal procedures,” Kaligis stated during the pretrial hearing at PN Jaksel on Monday (27/7/2026).
The pretrial petition filed by Lodewyk Pusung requests the court to accept and grant the entire pretrial motion. It asks the court to declare the Respondent’s actions in arresting, designating, and detaining the Petitioner as arbitrary and not in accordance with legal procedures. The petition also seeks to invalidate several legal documents, including the Investigation Orders issued by the Director of Investigations at the Junior Attorney General for Special Crimes, the Determination Letter of the Junior Attorney General for Special Crimes regarding the suspect designation, and the Detention Order and its extension. Furthermore, the motion requests the court to declare the investigation into the alleged corruption in the management of the MBG programme at BGN for the 2025 to 2026 period as unlawful and without legal basis, and to order the Respondent to release the Petitioner from state detention and restore his legal rights, with court costs charged to the state.
Lodewyk Pusung was named a suspect in the alleged MBG governance corruption case by the Attorney General’s Office. In addition to Pusung, the Attorney General’s Office has named six other suspects in this case, including former BGN Head Dadan Hindayana, former BGN Deputy Sony Sonjaya, an associate of Sony named Asep Yusuf Somantri, PT Yasa Artha Trimanunggal Commissioner Andri Mulyono, Indonesia Food Security Review Foundation Chair Glory Harimas Sihombing, and BGN Deputy Secretary for Promotion and Cooperation Lalu Muhammad Iwan.
