Former Bekasi Regent and Father Charged with Receiving Rp 12.4 Billion Bribe
REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, BANDUNG – Former Regent of Bekasi Ade Kuswara Kunang and his father Kunang have been charged with receiving bribes amounting to Rp 12.4 billion to arrange for 2025 work packages to be won by Sarjan’s company. The bribe money was given in stages through several individuals. The charges were read out by KPK prosecutors at the Corruption Court at Surapati Street, Bandung City, on Monday (4/5/2026) afternoon. Ade Kunang received Rp 11.4 billion from Sarjan, which was given in part through his father Kunang in the amount of Rp 1 billion. Then through Sugiarto Rp 3.3 billion, Ricky Yuda Rp 5.1 billion, and Rahmat Rp 2 billion. Meanwhile, the defendant Kunang, known as the Head of Sukadami Village, received Rp 1 billion from Iin Farihin. “The defendant committed several independent criminal acts, receiving gifts or promises, namely money totalling Rp 12.4 billion,” stated KPK prosecutor Ade Azharie while reading the charges on Monday (4/5/2026). The prosecutor continued that the defendant Sarjan, upon learning that Ade Kunang had won the 2024 regional election, immediately asked Sugiarto to arrange a meeting with the regent and request several work packages. They met, and Sarjan gave Rp 500 million for the operational costs of Ade Kunang’s inauguration. He stated that the total value of the work packages obtained by Sarjan reached more than Rp 107 billion. The packages were in the Public Works and Spatial Planning Department for school rehabilitation and maintenance.
