Former Director for SMEs and Sharia at Bank DKI, Babay Parid Wazdi, has been acquitted in the case of alleged corruption involving the provision of credit facilities to PT Sritex.

This certainty was obtained during the verdict hearing at the Semarang Corruption Court in Central Java on Thursday (7/5). A copy of the verdict excerpt, numbered 172/Pid.Sus-TPK/2025/PN Smg, was subsequently uploaded by Babay’s wife, Siti Yayuningsih, on her official Instagram account.

“The defendant Babay Farid Wazdi is not proven guilty in a lawful and convincing manner of committing the criminal act as charged by the public prosecutor in its entirety,” stated the verdict excerpt.

“Acquitting the defendant from all charges by the public prosecutor. Ordering the defendant to be released from custody immediately after this verdict is pronounced. Restoring the defendant’s rights in terms of ability, position, dignity, and honour,” the excerpt continued.

In July 2025, the Attorney General’s Office named Babay as one of the suspects in the alleged corruption case of granting credit to PT Sritex. Babay became a suspect along with seven others in the case.

Babay was charged in the alleged corruption case of providing credit facilities that harmed the state finances by trillions of rupiah. PT Sritex’s non-performing loans at Bank DKI were recorded at Rp180 billion.

Babay was demanded by the Public Prosecutor (JPU) to serve seven years in prison and a fine of Rp1 billion equivalent to 190 days of imprisonment.

In his defence, Babay stated that the granting of credit to PT Sritex in 2020 was carried out based on banking prudence principles and without any conflict of interest.

He explained that the credit was granted during the national crisis due to the COVID-19 pandemic, when Indonesia faced significant pressures in the health, social, and economic sectors.

Furthermore, the decision to grant credit to Sritex was not made unilaterally but through a long and tiered process, in accordance with banking operational standards.
