The Bandung City Government will prepare job opportunities for former employees of the Bandung Zoo who were affected by the transition of management from the previous operator to Faunaland. These former employees will undergo an assessment in collaboration with Faunaland to enable them to work within various municipal departments.

The Head of the Bandung City Manpower Office, Yayan Ahmad Brilyana, stated that Faunaland will conduct assessments of the former employees to map their competencies and work experience. The results of this mapping will be used to place the former employees in suitable positions within the Bandung City Government’s environmental agencies.

Out of a total of 121 former Bandung Zoo employees, 57 individuals have been recorded as affected workers. They possess diverse backgrounds and skills, ranging from animal care, operations, infrastructure, and landscaping to animal nutrition, ticketing services, and administration.

Yayan noted that the assessment results will be communicated to several regional agencies to align with the labour needs of each respective institution. The placement of these former employees will utilise an outsourcing system or individual contracts, in accordance with existing needs and applicable mechanisms.

“The results of this assessment will serve as a basis for us to identify opportunities for job placement that match their respective competencies as well as the available labour requirements,” he said on Wednesday (30/09/2026).

He added that the placement process will be carried out by considering the labour needs of each regional agency and will be adjusted to the prevailing mechanisms.

Yayan expressed his appreciation for the assessment process conducted by Faunaland as part of a joint effort to identify sustainable employment opportunities for the former Bandung Zoo staff. It is hoped that these former employees will return to the workforce.

“In principle, we want to ensure that the affected workers receive clarity regarding the sustainability of their employment opportunities,
