Former attorney general dies
JAKARTA (JP): Hari Suharto, the attorney general between 1983 and 1988 known for his staunch anti-corruption stand, died yesterday afternoon of old age at the Pertamina Hospital in South Jakarta.
Hari was survived by a wife and three children.
He will be buried in Prambanan, Yogyakarta, at a family cemetery today.
Born in Yogyakarta on May 26, 1923, Hari began his career in the military and was among the first cadets of the Yogyakarta Military Academy in 1945. He earned his law degree in 1962 from the Military Law College. He retired from the Army as a major general.
His positions in the government include inspector general at the Ministry of Agriculture and secretary general of the Ministry of Justice. He was also chairman of BP7, the agency dealing with promoting the state ideology Pancasila. (par)
