The former acting director of Perusahaan Daerah (Perumda) Aneka Usaha Majene, with initials AA, has been designated as a suspect by investigators from the West Sulawesi High Prosecutor’s Office (Kejati Sulbar) in an alleged corruption case involving the mismanagement of company finances between 2022-2024.

“The designation of the suspect is based on two pieces of evidence already obtained by investigators,” stated the Head of West Sulawesi High Prosecutor’s Office (Kajati Sulbar), Sukarman Sumarinton, in a statement on Monday, 9 March.

The suspect is strongly suspected of misappropriating company funds through fictitious accountability reports, resulting in state financial losses.

“Based on calculations by the Provincial Inspectorate, state losses totalling Rp1.83 billion have been identified,” he said.

As a result of his actions, the suspect has been charged under Articles 603 and 604 of Law Number 1 of 2023 of the Criminal Code in conjunction with the Anti-Corruption Law.

“The suspect, as of today, Monday (9 March), has been formally detained at Mamuju Class IIB Prison for the next 20 days,” he explained.

Sukarman stated that his office would continue to investigate the involvement of other parties in the case to bring the investigation to completion in a transparent manner.

“We will continue to investigate the involvement of other parties in this case,” he said.
