Formation of Ramadan and Eid Task Force Seen as Capable of Maintaining Fuel and LPG Supply
The Yayasan Lembaga Konsumen Indonesia (YLKI), Indonesia’s consumer protection foundation, has praised the formation of a Ramadan and Eid task force by the government and Pertamina, operating from 9 March to 1 April 2026 throughout Indonesia, as a positive and constructive step. The task force is expected to help the government, through Pertamina, maintain the supply and distribution of energy to the public.
YLKI chairwoman Niti Emiliana stated that as a routine annual event, Pertamina has thoroughly prepared the Ramadan and Eid task force. She expressed confidence that, like previous years, the state-owned energy enterprise will maintain adequate stocks of fuel and LPG during this period.
According to Niti, this effort is crucial given that the Eid holiday is predicted to trigger a significant surge in public mobility and economic activity. Furthermore, the presence of the Ramadan and Eid task force is seen as reassuring and preventing public panic. “During this period, fuel and LPG consumption naturally increases significantly, so Pertamina must be fully prepared,” Niti noted on Sunday (15 March).
Niti highlighted Pertamina’s readiness to mobilise thousands of fuel stations and LPG agents. From YLKI’s perspective, this step is essential for maintaining smooth energy distribution during the mass exodus and return journey for Eid 2026, particularly as most fuel stations and LPG agents must operate 24 hours a day. “From a consumer protection standpoint, Pertamina’s measures represent preventative action to ensure reliable and adequate supply, stability, and distribution,” Niti stated.
However, Niti raised several points for attention. Firstly, Pertamina must ensure equitable distribution, especially on major travel routes. Secondly, the company should monitor the quality and volume of products. Thirdly, it must be prepared to respond to consumer complaints and grievances.
Additionally, Niti expressed hope that given current geopolitical conditions, the government and Pertamina will continue to maintain energy security sustainably, not merely during the Eid period.
Beyond maintaining energy supply and distribution, Niti also viewed positively the supporting services such as Serambi MyPertamina at fuel stations. With a total of 43 locations spread across various highway and regular rest areas, airports, ports, and railway stations, Niti noted that Serambi MyPertamina is particularly special. Travellers can rest while enjoying various facilities provided at Serambi MyPertamina, including prayer rooms, medical clinics, children’s play areas, massage chairs, and free food and beverages, as well as barber services. “Serambi MyPertamina offers additional services that are particularly special for consumers, who can utilise facilities such as health checks, massage chairs, and more,” Niti said.
Earlier, Pertamina officially launched the Ramadan and Eid task force for 2026 to ensure reliable energy supply and smooth distribution of national energy during the Ramadan and Eid period. The task force operates from 9 March to 1 April 2026 across all regions of Indonesia.
Pertamina has mobilised 7,885 fuel stations, 6,777 petrol shops, 6,662 LPG agents, 757 electric charging stations and 223 kerosene agents. Additionally, it has deployed 96 modular fuel service units, 62 Pertamina kiosks, 200 motorist fuel units, 2,701 Bright Gas outlets, 200 standby fuel tankers, and 41 Serambi MyPertamina units.
