The need for National Police officers who are adaptive, professional, and understand societal dynamics has driven the strengthening of field-based education for Police Academy (Akpol) cadets. One such effort is being implemented through the Field Work Training (Latja) programme conducted within regional police units.

A total of 15 third-year cadets from the 58th Ksatrya Hawin Battalion are undergoing Field Work Training at the Malang Regional Police from 6 to 20 June 2026. This activity is part of the formation process for prospective police officers to ensure they master not only theory but also directly understand the execution of policing duties in the field.

Malang Regional Police Chief, AKBP Muhammad Taat Resdi, stated that field work training is a vital stage in developing technical abilities, leadership character, and professionalism for prospective officers.

“Latja is not merely an educational programme, but an opportunity for cadets to apply the knowledge they have acquired at the Police Academy to real-world duty situations,” Taat said in a statement on Thursday (11/6/2026).

According to him, understanding the dynamics of policing duties cannot be achieved solely through classroom learning. Direct field experience is necessary so that cadets understand the role of the National Police as protectors, guardians, and servants of the community.

During the training, cadets will participate in various operational and developmental activities covering five technical police functions: Traffic, Criminal Investigation, Samapta (Public Order), Intelligence and Security (Intelkam), and Community Development (Binmas).

Taat emphasised that the Malang Regional Police is committed to providing maximum guidance and instruction to ensure participants gain comprehensive experience during their training.

“We hope the cadets can make the best use of this opportunity to enrich their insights, increase competence, and build professional and high-integrity leadership character,” he said.

In addition to deepening technical skills, participants are also encouraged to understand the implementation of the ‘Presisi’ Programme in daily policing duties.

“Through this field work training, cadets are expected to understand how the Presisi Programme is applied in daily operations, so they will be ready to become officers who are adaptive to the developments and needs of the community,” he added.

Throughout the two-week training period, participants will engage in learning activities, observations, and field practices guided by personnel from each respective police function.

“We want the cadets to gain a complete experience of policing within the region. This way, when they enter service as officers, they will possess adequate knowledge, skills, and experience,” said Taat.
