Forestry Ministry explains

From Neraca

With reference to the question Do I need a permission to fell
my own teak trees (Neraca, Nov. 11, 1995) we would like to
clarify as follows:

* As far as tree felling on Java island is concerned no
special permission is required, particularly when teak trees are
involved. However, the Forestry Ministry has appointed Perum
(General Company) Perhutani to provide the communities with
guidance and the necessary documents needed to legalize the
ownership, especially if the teak is going to be traded.

* The owner of the land is advised to consult the Head of the
Forest Administrative Unit of Perum Perhutani in Kuningan, West
Java.
