Jakarta (ANTARA) - Forestry Minister Raja Juli Antoni has reminded that during the 2026 Idul Fitri and Nyepi holiday periods, several national parks (TN), nature tourism parks (TWA), and wildlife reserves will be temporarily closed.

In a statement received in Jakarta on Thursday, the Minister stated that the temporary closure of several TN and TWA is a precautionary measure to safeguard visitor safety due to natural factors and to ensure environmental conservation is maintained during the long holiday period.

“President Prabowo has instructed that the management of TN-TWA should prioritise zero waste, with sufficient rubbish bins and personnel. It should also emphasise zero accidents, ensuring no casualties due to inadequate safety facilities, and prepare medical teams, ambulances, and adequate health centres,” said Forestry Minister Raja Antoni.

“Ensure the implementation of visitor quotas. Information regarding temporary closures should be re-announced on our respective social media platforms so that the information conveyed to the public is clear,” added Forestry Minister Raja Antoni.

On that occasion, he urged his subordinates to ensure readiness and provide clear information to the wider public. The online meeting was also attended by Deputy Forestry Minister Rohmat Marzuki, Director General of Natural Resources and Ecosystem Conservation Satyawan Pudyatmoko, and Director of Environmental Services Utilisation for Natural Resources and Ecosystem Conservation Nunu Anugrah.

Several national parks will be closed during the period of 19-22 March 2026, coinciding with Nyepi Day and the Eid momentum. The closures are intended as a form of respect for the holidays while avoiding surges in visitors that could exceed the area’s capacity.

In addition to holiday factors, several national parks and nature tourism parks will also be closed for considerations of ecosystem recovery and safety.
